I compiled a website redesign report for AOL. I shifted my focus from content to design and usability as I determined the different factors that would be most optimal for AOL’s website. I went through a series of steps to optimize our website choice for the benefit of the user.

For this task, I assessed AOL as a company along with its current website status. I introduced reasons for redesign complete with user and business requirements that would need to be fulfilled. I conducted a competitive analysis to gauge what strategies AOL’s competitors were incorporating that shaped their success. Then I began looking at the site with user experience in mind. I constructed user personas based on AOL’s primary audience to mimic what a typical user might look like. Then I formulated a sample interview and survey that I would conduct with AOL users to understand their perspectives. I also organized a card-sorting exercise to get user opinions on how they feel the website should be set up. I ended with a usability test to evaluate user performance and navigation on AOL’s current site to understand which area(s) need the most improvement.
