I assessed the content of the Alzheimer’s Association website. This organization helps raise public awareness of Alzheimer’s disease as well as actively researching ways to help decrease its severity and/or prevent it. The Alzheimer’s Association (ALZ) holds fundraisers for its cause and encourages people everywhere to get informed and involved.
I began the analysis using a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) spider tool called Screaming Frog. This SEO screening program “crawls” around a provided website using a URL that is inserted into it. From there, I was able to gather data on the site’s page titles, meta descriptions, headers, and image tags. Then I measured the accessibility of the website using WAVE, a website accessibility evaluation tool. After inserting the ALZ website link, the WAVE tool it gave a breakdown of each page and how accessible it is, accounting for different colors, fonts, and other assets that are important to the visual usability of the website. Accessibility in a website ensures that it can be utilized by those who are visually impaired.
I then examined the actual content, writing, and architecture of the site to determine how well it flowed together for the website’s appearance and navigation.
