I posed as the company&#8217;s social media manager, proposing my ideas based on research conducted using Google Trends in response to the company\u2019s decision to branch out into neighboring states.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\" id=\"block-b70c9a42-4160-4ee3-b757-8524ae102466\">\u2014 \u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide is-layout-flex wp-container-4\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p id=\"block-c71554e8-046b-469b-985e-dbec8152c488\">Hello everyone! My name is Katie Mone. For those of you in management who do not know, I am the social media manager for QGrounds Coffee, based in New Haven, CT. In light of the recent decision to expand as a company to neighboring states, I feel that it is more than necessary to consider the digital and social media factors in play that could truly benefit our business. Over the past week, I have conducted research regarding digital trends, particularly on Google Trends. I have put this report together to convey the digital implications that could boost our company\u2019s success.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide is-layout-flex wp-container-6\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p id=\"block-c04c2f57-f8c5-45e8-b3fa-8aab06a11201\">Google Trends is a great way to gain real insight into the top trending topics. It shows you the top words, people, and events that are buzzing. It even allows you to research specific keywords and see how they perform in popularity over time and by country, state and even narrowed down to regions and cities within these states. This is where my research for this project began. I looked into terms like \u201ccoffee\u201d and \u201ccoffee shop\u201d starting in Connecticut, and then branching off into New York and Rhode Island. Since New Haven is rather centered in the state of Connecticut, I figured this gave a lot of leeway into several different potential areas to open. It stays relatively steady as a trending term year-round, but peaks and troughs more at certain times of the year. But what about other states?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide is-layout-flex wp-container-10\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\" id=\"block-00157c89-89c2-4094-831c-b66a9926013a\"><strong>New York<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\" id=\"block-1fee2e05-6df0-4feb-86f8-defd0ab0fb6e\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/EXWWt_t91NpObEzwQnmDkDvCDb2M7_zkc1CsdqLs5aTAcg_r5-jNYiSXVRYm422S239BwvFSQUeCPrNo8ZUdqqXeSGqLyoBCV_KYzBYqlfFHKkHoYccJYi3XVTDPTWNE73VGST8zYwX-Fdev1hrl9l2eRMri9NPJWoBPAS-O0PdzoRpXtrLK_2VlhQ\" alt=\"This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is EXWWt_t91NpObEzwQnmDkDvCDb2M7_zkc1CsdqLs5aTAcg_r5-jNYiSXVRYm422S239BwvFSQUeCPrNo8ZUdqqXeSGqLyoBCV_KYzBYqlfFHKkHoYccJYi3XVTDPTWNE73VGST8zYwX-Fdev1hrl9l2eRMri9NPJWoBPAS-O0PdzoRpXtrLK_2VlhQ\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide is-layout-flex wp-container-12\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p id=\"block-ba5c25b1-3b2f-4f32-98b8-8333bcfd2cf6\">Google Trends also allows you to look at multiple terms at a time and compare them. I did this with \u201ccoffee\u201d and \u201ccoffee shop\u201d when researching the New York City area. I wanted to get a better understanding of how these two similar, but different terms correlated. Clearly, there is a huge difference between the two, with the more general term having more overall interest than the more specific term. Although this is what I expect from social media and Google, it surprises me that \u201ccoffee shop\u201d is such an unpopular term in a city like New York. Intriguing points like this one help to narrow down what will potentially work (and not work) for QGrounds coffee as we branch out. While many of them are a ways away from our home base in Connecticut, expanding to upstate New York is certainly something to consider for the future. And the term \u201ccoffee\u201d continues to dominate other coffee-related terms across the board. Once again, \u201ccoffee\u201d comes out on top, particularly peaking in colder winter months as well as some spikes in the summer for those iced coffee lovers. Because Rhode Island is a significantly smaller state, I didn\u2019t do as much in-depth research into different regions. But due to the year-round trends and interest in coffee, I think expanding into RI would be a smart move.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide is-layout-flex wp-container-20\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p id=\"block-5ae65d56-833b-4c73-8bd8-006f6df379b3\">I hope that this brief report gave you more insight into the digital and social factors that we will encounter as a multi-state coffee business.
